I’ll do a reveal on social media, but I’m just so excited to share the final cover art for Shady Depths!
After playing in Canva, researching artists, and not being able to settle on the style, or really understanding the rules of the genre, all I really knew was what I did not want:
- A beefy, half-dressed man on the cover
- Weird representations of magic
- Art you’d be embarassed to be seen reading on public transportation.
On the recommendation from the lovely ladies in the Moms Who Write Facebook group, I learned about GetCovers.com, a collection of graphic designers based out of Ukraine who specialize in creating cover art for self-published authors. A cursory poke around their website and scan of the available portfolio had me creating an account and babbling in a text field about the ideas I had for the cover, the themes, the color palette, and stating my one, very important concern: no beefy, half-dressed man on the cover.
The process was so easy and in the end I received a cover that was above my expectations for the cost and fits the Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance genre.
Check it out, in all it’s watery glory:

Look at my book baby! We are that much closer to releasing, and on schedule! Look for Shady Depths on KU, April 16, 2023.
